Spent Money Today...YUCK

Today I spent some money…YUCK
I bought a
  1. RV water pump. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JRL0ZUM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The camper had a hand pump sink.  I am going to re-do the entire water system so it has a pump, tank and gray water tank and will also hook up to water hookup which I bought several months ago.   We have been discussing a shower as well.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005947ZR8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  1. Alternator and Battery tester https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L3KCI4W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I had one of these several years ago when I had solar panels on the house.  I just leave this hooked up to the battery and it tells how many volts you have at any given moment.  I loved this thing and had to have it so I know how much power I have on our pop-up.

I know most of you will think this is too small but I found a web page that told me how much I needed.  So, I went with this one because I will have a generator or I can charge with the truck.  This is the page to determine amp hours https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/document.do?docId=1019

I can’t wait to get this…I will do a review on this when I get it.  It is supposed to be as good as a Honda generator.  This YouTube video is of a guy I watch regularly who did a review of the generator.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC6A1SMldcc&t=560s

One of the key selling points of the pop up camper we bought was they uniquely installed a small window AC into it.  We could not test it when we bought it because it was about 25 degrees outside.  It warmed up this week and I turned on the AC and guess what…it did not work.  So, I had to buy a new one.  I will post a picture of it when I get it in.

Starting our adventure

After years of working 60 to 70 hours a week and never taking a vacation, Carolyn and I decided to quite our job and begin our full time RV’ing.  We bought a 1970 Starcraft pop-up camper and are in the process of fixing it up.  We may buy something more substantial later but we are quite excited starting our adventure in this pop-up.

The first thing I did to the camper was replace the wheel bearings and tires.  I took it on a test drive and the dust cover came off on the driver side (it was missing the dust cover when we bought it also).  I bought another dust cover and took it for another test drive and it came off again.  Time for Google…I discovered that I may be having problems with the dust cover because the wheel bearing may have overheated at some point and warped the hub.  So, I bought a new hub and the problem is solved.
The plastic wheel well was badly damaged on the driver side as well.  This allowed squirrels to easily enter the camper.  This also helped confirm that the wheel had issues in the past.  I figured that the tire blew and busted the wheel well.  Believe it or not, I was able to easily fix this with caulk.
I put a new propane tank hose/valve and the three burner stove worked perfectly.
We took all the canvas off and put it in the washing machine.  They look so much better.  I wish I would have taken before and after picture.  While the canvas was off we painted all the wood interior white.  This made the space look much bigger.  Finally, I waterproofed the canvas and tested it in the rain.
